Bears in downtown Calgary

Our beautiful, sculpted glass bears are just some of the pieces we’re packing up and taking with us to this year’s Art Market Craft Sale at the TELUS Convention Centre from Thursday, November 16 to Sunday, November 19. Our booth (201) is  located just inside the main entrance. Come visit and see why the studio has been hopping.

In fact, we’ve been busy since summer arrived, grateful for the opportunities that emerged. We developed a series of awards for the 24th World Petroleum Congress held in August. The program included our red moose, which now lives in parts near and far.  This initiative also included a specially commissioned piece by Hayden and the fascapple team, which was given to the Dewhurst Award winner, Mr. Amin Nasser, President, and CEO Aramco. Thank you to Denny Painchaud and BJ Gebhardt of the World Petroleum Congress Canada and the Calgary Organizing Committee for choosing Hayden and fascapple glass studio. Our bears were once again given as gifts at the Global Business Conference in Banff. Thank you to the Honourable Lois Mitchell and Wendy Wacko for their support of our work.

The warm months were also a time of giving back to the community as we donated items to the fORM Charity Golf Tournament in support of the Hotchkiss Brain Institute and youth mental health initiatives; to a salon held at Park by Sidewalk Citizen in support of Refugee Health yyc; and to the Willow Park Charity Golf Classic in support of YW Sheriff King Home. As a small business, our appetite to give back is always larger than the reality of our resources, but we are pleased to do what we can.

Over the last several months, we have enjoyed welcoming workshop and teambuilding participants to our world, giving them a taste of the wonder of it all. Students also gain a sense of  the discipline and skills that shape the pieces large and small that appear throughout the gallery.

As the excitement for the holiday season grows, hobbyist and professional artists are here creating works that become specially given or chosen gifts.  We’ll be hosting our Open House, Thursday through Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm on the first two weekends in December: November 30th to December 3th and December 9th to 12th. Invitations will be arriving by email soon. Do join us for this festive time.

In this tumultuous world, where worries weigh on us all, it’s wonderful to watch people discover the world of glass for the first time. It’s great to see artists create pieces that bring joy and colour to life. While for us, opening the annealer makes it Christmas every day, the true time of celebration is rapidly approaching. Let us know how we can help—whether with a charming Santa gnome, a chandelier ornament that brings Vienna home  or a cloud vase to lighten your list.

Thank you for your patience. More news from the studio to come sooner than later.
